A Dream That Became A Dream Home

I met Linda and Wayland almost exactly two years ago. At our first meeting, we discussed “the dream” which was to sell their current home and move into a slightly larger version of the same home – a classic Ladds Addition Bungalow. We discussed a game plan, which meant probably waiting until the spring to sell and buy.
Then, the market changed. Spring of 2015 was a crazy time in the history of Portland Real Estate: record low inventory, skyrocketing prices, and sometimes 20-30 offers in on any given property. Especially for the type of home they were looking for, it was starting to feel daunting to find them the home of their dreams. We talked about the market frequently, but hopes felt waning at time. I second guessed myself too. Would I be able to help them successfully fulfill their dream?
We let the 2015 market pass us by. In the Spring of this year, as the market was slightly evening out, Linda and Wayland decided it was the time to take a leap of faith and put their home on the market. We listed it and it sold nearly instantly (I mean, it’s a Bungalow in Ladds!) and then we were left with the big question of “can we find that dream home in time?!”
Many homes came close, but as soon as we all stepped through the door of the Mt. Tabor Bungalow I think we all knew that tit was “THE ONE.” We found the dream home. The problem was that, of course, it was the dream home of a few other buyers. We did everything we could to position their offer to the front of the pile – I even walked their offer to the listing broker’s office with flowers. In the world of multiple offers, it’s just hard to know whether you will win the day, but Linda and Wayland put their trust in me and we got our offer accepted.
It was bittersweet handing the keys to this amazing family on closing day. We became so close over the course of the transaction that I still find myself want to meet up with them to talk market or go see houses. But, I am over the moon that they are now the owners of the home that they described at our initial meeting. It really is just perfect for them, and I know they will be happy for years to come making this house their home.
All the congratulations in the world to this Native Oregonian Family! May your roots continue to grow in Mt. Tabor 🙂
