An Exhausting and Exciting Day

Sunday, May 17th will be remembered as one of the happiest, and most bittersweet, days of our clients’ lives.

The day started with the busiest open house of both Chad and my careers. The three-piece jazz band was a huge hit, Chad on the BBQ flipping burgers was a fun touch, and people swarmed through the cute-as-a-bug house in droves. The 750 sq. ft. main floor could barely hold all the excited potential homebuyers . Lingering bodies kept flooding in; our effort to be out by 4pm was an adorable goal looking back.

By the time we wrapped everything up and headed to the office, we were astounded: offers kept coming in. We knew that the charming home on SE 28th Place was going to be a desired property, but the level of interest was something none of us, sellers included, could have planned for.

Chad and I set up a veritable offer factory. He was reading and organizing offers, I was updating a spreadsheet to keep the offers straight. As the offer deadline approached, we got three offers at the “buzzer.” All in all, we received 25 offers on the home, 24 of which were over asking price.

The sellers arrived at our office just as we were finishing with the last of the offers. They had an idea of the madness that was happening with their home, but they were not prepared for 25 offers. Overwhelmed with emotion, both with joy for the rewards of their efforts, but also with a tinge of sadness, it finally dawned on them that the house was going to belong to someone else.

In the end, they accepted an offer well above asking price and were very excited about the buyer getting the home. We popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate a day not soon to be forgotten.
