When Sara and Matt relocated to Portland from Chicago, they didn’t want to rush into buying anything right away. They decided to rent and explore different areas before committing to a big purchase. However, with inventory moving fast and interest rates on the rise, this savvy couple decided to take the plunge before an impending lease expiration added to the pressure of finding the perfect place.
Like most first-time buyers, Sara and Matt didn’t have a gigantic down payment or endless coffers of money. They found themselves competing with investors and cash buyers, and lost out on more than one home. But this optimistic couple didn’t let a sellers’ market get them down! And with each house we saw, they swore they liked it better than the last.
Finally, we found a move-in ready ranch style home in outer South East that had their names written all over it (and a garage big enough for their truck!). It had just listed that morning, and we knew we had to act fast and be competitive. By coming in slightly over asking, shortening the inspection period, and promising a swift close, we were able to lock up this house before anyone else even got to see it!
After five weeks of working with the very generous sellers and a fantastic listing agent, Sara and Matt closed on their new home just in time to ring in the New Year. Congrats to the happy couple, and here is to many more holidays in your new home!
