North Portland Real Estate
North Portland is a diverse mixture of residential, commercial, and industrial areas. It includes the Portland International Raceway, the University of Portland, and massive cargo facilities of the Port of Portland. Slang-names for it include “NoPo” (shortened from North Portland) and “the Fifth Quadrant” (for being the odd-man out from the four-cornered logic of SE, NE, SW, and NW). North Portland is connected to the industrial area of Northwest Portland by the St. Johns Bridge, a 2,067 ft (630.0 m) long suspension bridge.
North Portland is home to many neighborhoods, including St. John’s, Overlook, Piedmont, Kenton, University Park, Cathedral Park, Hayden Island, and Jantzen Beach. North Portland is only minutes away from surrounding towns such as Scappoose, St. Helens, and Sauvie Island.
The Jantzen Beach neighborhood includes Delta Park, Portland International Raceway, and Jantzen Beach SuperCenter. Located at the gateway to Portland International Airport (PDX), North Portland houses the brand new Cascade Station shopping center, a mixed use center featuring major retailers such as IKEA, Best Buy, and Bath & Body Works, along with restaurants, office buildings and hotels.
Residents of North Portland are part of the Portland Public School district. Portland Public Schools is an urban school district in Portland, Oregon. With approximately 46,000 students in more than 85 schools, it is the largest school district in the Pacific Northwest. North Portland is also the home to the University of Portland.
