“I helped my elderly mother with the negotiation process in the sale of a two-acre vacant lot adjacent to her house. We used Amanda Armstrong as our broker. The property has an open field, a stand of tall trees, and a year-round creek. Although it is near the city, it has a fantastic “being in the country” feel to it. There were two dynamics that needed to be addressed. First of all, given the desirability of the property, we wanted to get the maximum value from the sale. Next was the fact that the neighbor on the other side of the lot wanted very much to buy it. Unfortunately, he felt that what we were asking too much since he was only interested in maintaining this lot as a buffer. Given this challenge, I felt Amanda did a masterful job of balancing these two dynamics into what turned out to be a win/win deal for both my mother and her neighbor.
